Prosthetists and Orthotists from a Japanese Company Visit the Prostheses Foundation for a Study Tour

On 5 May 2026, four prosthetists and orthotists from Rakuhokugishi Prosthetic and Orthotic Manufacturing, Co. Ltd., Kyoto, Japan, visited the Prostheses Foundation of H.R.H. The Princess Mother for a study tour. They were welcomed by Dr. Piroon Kumoon, M.D., Associate Professor Rome Chiranukrom, Deputy Secretary-General of the Foundation, and Ms. Akiyo Koniyoshi, a prosthetic technician of the Foundation. The team provided a briefing on the Foundation’s prosthetic fabrication techniques, including the production of prosthetic feet, and guided the visitors through the 30th Anniversary Exhibition at the Foundation’s main office in Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai. On this occasion, the visiting delegation also made a donation to support the Foundation’s operations.
This study visit was initiated as Ms. Naomi Sakamoto, President of Rakuhokugishi Prosthetic and Orthotic Manufacturing, had previously worked at the Prostheses Foundation from 2003 to 2005 with support from the Nippon Foundation. She later became the owner and Chief Executive Officer of the company, which manufactures and distributes medical devices such as prosthetic arms, prosthetic legs, and orthotic supports in Japan. The visit aimed to allow her team to learn from the Foundation’s prosthetic fabrication model.
