The Prostheses Foundation Hosts the Inter-hospital Prosthetics Conference
On 16 December 2025, the Prostheses Foundation of H.R.H. the Princess Mother organized the 1st Inter-hospital Prosthetics Conference for Fiscal Year 2026. The event was also attended by Clinical Professor Niwes Nantachit, M.D. Secretary-General of the Foundation, Associate Professor Therdchai Jivacate M.D., former Secretary-General, Associate Professor Jakkrit Klaphajone, M.D., Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, together with resident physicians from Padjadjaran University and from Chiang Mai University, and Mr. Axel Hass, prosthetist from Germany. Participants joined both onsite at the Foundation’s Main Office in Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai, and online. . The conference featured presentations by a resident physician from the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University, Bandung, Indonesia, who presented on “Development of Bionic Hand Prosthesis for Transradial Amputation”; a resident physician from Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, who presented “Diagnosis: Left Above-Knee Amputation due to Arterial Occlusion, Onset 2020 with Both Hips Contracture and Right Knee Flexion Contracture”; as well as a prosthetist from the Prostheses Foundation, who presented “Diagnosis: Left Hemipelvectomy due to Vehicle Accident, October 2024.” . The conference included case discussions and knowledge exchange, moderated by Dr. Piroon Kumoon, M.D., Deputy Secretary-General for Academic Affairs and Research. The event was attended by executives, physicians, and Foundation staff with the aim of enhancing academic expertise in prosthetics, improving services for individuals with limb loss—whose conditions are increasingly complex—and supporting the Foundation’s academic development, services, and research. It also helped strengthen relationships among hospitals and professionals in prosthetic and orthotic services both domestically and internationally.
