The Prostheses Foundation Provides Prosthetic Legs for Lawa Ethnic Group from Wa State, Myanmar, Affected by Landmines
On August 28, 2025 the Prostheses Foundation of Her Royal Highness The Princess Mother provided prosthetic legs to eleven male amputees from the Lawa ethnic group living in Wa State, Myanmar. Almost all the amputees lost their legs due to landmines left behind in former conflict zones along the border area, a lingering consequence of war over two decades ago. They sought prosthetic legs to help them regain mobility, enabling them to return to normal daily activities and work with renewed confidence. For more than three decades, the Prostheses Foundation has remained committed to its humanitarian mission by providing prosthetic legs to amputees of all ethnicities, and religions, ensuring that those who have lost their legs can live meaningful and independent lives.
