72-Year-Old Turkish Amputee Travels to Thailand to Receive a Prosthetic Leg from the Prostheses Foundation
On July 1, 2025, the Prostheses Foundation of H.R.H. the Princess Mother provided a royal prosthetic leg to a 72-year-old Turkish man who traveled from Turkey to Thailand to receive prosthetic services at the Foundation’s main office in Chiang Mai. This was his first prosthetic leg, enabling him to walk independently without the need for walking aids after losing his lower leg due to vascular disease about seven months ago. . This journey was made possible through his Thai wife, who resides in Turkey. She had learned about the Foundation’s services from the Thai community abroad and decided to bring her husband to Thailand to receive a prosthetic leg. The Turkish man expressed his deep appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the Foundation—highlighting the expertise of the medical team and the dedication and skills of the prosthetic technicians, whose experience ensures that recipients are fitted with high-quality prosthetic legs. Thanks to their efforts, he has regained the confidence to return to his daily life. . The Prostheses Foundation remains committed to providing free prosthetic legs to all amputees with leg loss — regardless of nationality or religion—in accordance with the wish of its founder, H.R.H. the Princess Mother.
