The Foundation's Prosthesis
| The Foundation’s type of prosthesis is endoskeletal.The socket is attached to an alignment unit and then to | ||
| a plastic pylon, cover which a rigid foam, fashion in to a shape of a leg then laminated with polyester resin or | ||
| a ready-made cosmatic cover made of polyurethane(P.U.).This production method is fast and results in as strong | ||
| and durable a prosthesis as the exoskeletal type. | ||
|
Prosthetic components of the Foundation's prosthesis
| The prosthesis is built on the same principles used in developed countries for endoskeletal prostheses, having | ||
|
the following components :
| ||
| Syme prosthesis | ||
| for those whose amputation is at ankle level. | ||
| Socket - Plastic is used to cover the stump from knee to ankle joint. | ||
| Syme foot - This a special design called a syme foot. | ||
|
Below-knee prosthesis
| for those whose amputation is below the knee, leaving their own normal knee. | ||
|
Socket - total contact with
stump, tendon weight- bearing, with ventilation for comfort
and reduced risk of fungal infections. The rim of the socket encloses all
the knee so that straps are unnecessary Alignment unit - This makes it convenient to adjust the position between the socket and foot. Pylon - The socket and foot are joined together by the pylon Prosthetic foot - This looks like a real foot. The heel is spongy and breaks the impact of heel-strike. It gives good push-off power, conserving energy and making it possible for amputees to walk farther without tiring. Attachment to stump - No need for straps because the socket rim encloses all the knee joint. |

| Knee disarticulation prosthesis | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| for those whose amputation is through the knee joint. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Socket - This an ischial containment socket. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Prosthetic knee joint - This is an out side hinge joint type . | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pylon - This is a plastic rod. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Prosthetic foot - SACH (dynamic) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Above-knee prosthesis | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
for
those whose amputation is above knee level. Weight bearing - Body weight is received equally by every part of the socket, so that the amputee feels the prosthesis is nearly like a real leg, and he walks with a good and stable gait.Knee-shin assembly - A safe type is used which prevents easy falls and provides good stability. Pylon - The knee-shin and foot are joined together by the plastic pylon. Prosthetic foot - SACH foot which looks like a real foot. The heel is spongy and breaks the impact of heel-strike. It gives good push- off power, conserving energy and making it possible for amputees to walk farther without tiring.Attachment to stump - Suction valve and waist strap (Silesian band)Hip disarticulation prosthesis |
