Development of prosthetic technology
and equipment for making prostheses.
| Development of prosthetic technology |
Because each mobile prosthetic unit of The Foundation has a 4-5 day limit to make prostheses for their 100-300 clients on each visit, and make sure the prosthesis fits, is not painful and the amputee can walk well with it, it has improved its technology. The prostheses are durable comfortable, and light weight, and the amputees can walk naturally with them. Any prosthetist can make them well. At present The Foundation is able to complete a below-knee prosthesis in 1 day. (The old method took 1-2 weeks) It can make above-knee prostheses in 3 days. (The old method took 3-4 weeks) |

1. Stump copying apparatus. |
| which make it possible to make a true fitting socket have saved time. Prosthetists, both national and foreign have expressed interest, taken them to test, and reported that these have improved their prostheses so they have not had to make corrections to the sockets. | |

| 2. Ischial Containment Socket(I.C.S.) | |
| rim casting apparatus. | |
| for making above knee ichial containment socket prostheses has helped | |
| to make above knee prostheses quickly and, most importantly, for amputees to have better control of the prosthesis. | |
| 3. The In-fared Oven. |
| The in-fared oven uses in-fared radiation warm and soften the plastic so it can be molded and shaped costing 50,000 baht , is able to bake 12 sheets of plastic used for sockets per hour. It differs from an ordinary oven which uses electric coils to heat the plastic, which is able only to heat one plastic sheet per hour. | |
4. A plaster cast holding apparatus for making a plaster mould. |
| 5. Equipment for lifting bilateral amputees. | |
| for plaster socket casting. | |
| 6. Pneumatic plastic socket formation apparatus. |
| Socket form the stump mould (this apparatus cost 25,000 baht) which differs from the imported suction machine which require 2 prosthetists and costs 300,000 baht. | |
| 7. Laser alignment apparatus. |
| A machine which uses a laser beam to help in alignment, costs 1,500 baht while is cost of an oversea's import is 90,000 bath. |
